Background

Varneth does not spread sickness. It waits for sickness to recognize it.

A vast, unmoving mass of withered petals and pulse-veined roots, Varneth lies dormant in the breathless mire of the Silence. Its bloom never opens fully - only enough to release spores of forgotten ailments, echoes of diseases never named. Each carries not infection, but memory: of cities that never recovered, of names once associated with dread.

Varneth cannot move. It does not need to. The air moves for it.

Description

Traits / Abilities

  • Pale Spore Memory - Releases airborne fragments of forgotten pandemics. Breathing them causes the mind to recall dying of things it never caught.
  • Witherwave Roots - Sends root-hairs through the ground and silence, rupturing organs without contact.
  • Immunity Reversal - Those who resist its effects are inverted - their defenses turn inward, attacking what they protect.
  • The Waiting Bloom - If left alone too long, it begins to unfold. The moment it fully opens, everything nearby forgets how to live.
